On making money

You know dears, as much as I hate to give boring lectures about what to do and what not to do, here are few things I would like you to ponder upon. I know that for most of you, education is for getting a degree, landing a job and to start earning. But have you ever thought how much of earning is actually enough? You might think this question comes a bit too early to ask. Let me finish the degree and get a job first. Wrong. The earlier, the better. Because when I look at your face, I see a lot of amazing talents. And I often wonder, why are these people wasting their talents on just a basic degree. Agreed that some of you may actually need it. To pay off debts, to repay loans etc. But for most others it is just because they are under pressure. They know they are not in the right place, or that they can actually do much more than this. But they just give in to the societal concept that one should study for sometime, then keep working on some monotonous job and earn a huge fortune, then leave it for their children and die. Fullstop. Is’nt there anything more to life?  We work hard for five to six days a week and get one or two days’ holiday, which we want to just celebrate. So it is like we work hard and celebrate hard and in between the quiet and peacefulness of our life just vanishes. Ya, maybe if you work hard enough the company will send you on vacation to some exotic location where you can find peace. But back to work the same cycle again. Just take a break and think this way. What if, God forbid, something happens to you, like a stroke due to overexhaustion that leaves you paralysed at your 40’s or so? What is the use of work, of money, of anything at all, if you cannot walk in the sun, smell the flowers and run behind the butterflies? I tell you, these are more important. So take your time to enjoy the world too,but don’t ignore the studies. Otherwise who knows, you do not earn enough and live till your 90’s and die on the roadside because of debt. Agreed both situations are extremes. What Iam saying is find a balance. And decide what you want and how much you want and work diligently for it from now. In between also remember to find the kind of beauty you seek from your life. All the best.
